This blog we provide an infographic that illustrates the bacteria hot spots that can lead to bad odours in the workplace.

The importance of a healthy workforce

We have mentioned many times the importance of good office hygiene, often highlighting how the absence of good hygiene practices in the workplace can lead to increased absenteeism. For more details, read our blog “Your office is losing 100’s of days a year to absenteeism: what can you do about it?” where we note that according to Occupational Care South Africa (OCSA), absenteeism costs the South African economy around R12 – R16 billion per year.

However, knowing the importance of good office hygiene is just the first step. The next step is identifying those hygiene hotspots in the office that contribute to the proliferation of harmful bacteria which lead to odour, as well as to illness and reduction in staff morale.

Below is an infographic to remind you of the common office bacteria hotspots you should be aware of as an office manager, in order to encourage good office and workplace hygiene:

These may seem simple but when we get busy at work these small things often get overlooked until they become a big issue. I’d advise taking the necessary steps to mitigate these bacteria hotspots before they become a real problem, and keep your staff healthy and happy.
