VIRUSKILLER™ FAQs: the 10 most common questions we hear

This blog is aimed at providing a deeper understanding of improved air quality and how the VIRUSKILLER™ works. This blog answers the 10 most frequently asked questions we have received regarding the VIRUSKILLER™ range of air purification systems.

We’ve written extensively about the benefits of providing clean air in a range of locations including officesschools and care homes.

But for those of you who want a deeper understanding of how the VIRUSKILLER range of air purification systems work, we thought we would share the 10 questions we get asked most often about the VIRUSKILLER™ and its efficacy against COVID-19 and other airborne viruses.

10 VIRUSKILLER™ FAQs:

1. What makes VIRUSKILLER™ different from an ordinary air purifier?

Conventional air purifiers are primarily focused on air filtration – the removal of particulate matter and allergens. VIRUSKILLER™ takes this one step further by implementing not only world-class filtration and gas neutralization, but state-of-the-art active virus decontamination.

Bioaerosols and viral pathogens that can pass through traditional filters are deactivated in a patented, high power UV-C Reactor Chamber, delivering clean, hygienic air. This is achieved in only a single air pass, with the flow of contaminated and clean air carefully controlled in the room.

2. Is VIRUSKILLER™ technology effective against COVID-19?

The VK 401 underwent an independent and rigorous set of bioaerosol tests under strict laboratory conditions against 16 pathogens including SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19).  The test results show that none of the 16 pathogens tested were present after passing through the VK 401 unit. The successful test results again confirm the effectiveness of the patented Reactor Chamber in removing airborne pathogens.

3. Does VIRUSKILLER™ reduce airborne allergens?

Yes, it does. The premium HEPA filters in VIRUSKILLER™ prevent the spread of pollen, pet dander, and other particulates, helping to alleviate allergy symptoms from common airborne allergens.

4. Does VIRUSKILLER™ eliminate toxic gases and odours?

Yes again. VIRUSKILLER™ effectively neutralizes harmful gases and VOCs while assisting in the speedy removal of unpleasant odours.

5. Has VIRUSKILLER™ technology been independently tested?

Yes, VIRUSKILLER™ technology has been extensively tested by independent organizations and laboratories, government bodies, and engineering institutions.

6. What safety accreditations does VIRUSKILLER™ have?

VIRUSKILLER™ devices have been tested and certified by a range of internationally recognised safety and compliance bodies, including Conformité Européenne (CE), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Korea Certification (KC), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.

7. Does VIRUSKILLER™ technology release ozone as a by-product?

Ozone generation is well regulated within UV-C applications and VIRUSKILLER™ is no exception. The VIRUSKILLER™ units have been tested for ozone emission and are certified to fall well within the recommended safe levels.

8. Is it safe to be around the VIRUSKILLER™ units while they are operating?

VIRUSKILLER™ units are entirely safe to be around while operating, and we highly recommend their use in this way. The air produced is filtered, neutralized, and decontaminated, making it entirely safe for breathing.

9. Are the UV-C lights safe?

Yes, the high-quality UV-C lamps are safely enclosed in the Reactor Chamber and tested for excessive UV leakage.

10. How loud are the air purifiers?

VIRUSKILLER™ units have been manufactured to be as quiet as possible while still ensuring maximum airflow. The devices produce a similar sound and volume to a typical air conditioning system or fan. Noise level ranges are detailed in the unit specification sheets.
