The holiday season is upon us and travellers are cautiously optimistic considering the COVID-19 pandemic's fourth wave.
With more travellers choosing Airbnb as their preferred holiday accommodation, we've put together a list of questions you should ask your Airbnb host to ensure hygiene protocols are up to scratch and that you have peace of mind during your well deserved break.
3 Questions to ask your Airbnb before leaving home for your vacation

What is your COVID-19 cleaning policy
Cleaning regimes have changed since we wrote our first Airbnb cleaning blog. While these principles are still very relevant, the pandemic has focussed efforts on levels of hygiene and disinfection. Things to consider:
-
-
Is adequate time allowed between bookings to ensure the premises are properly aired and that thorough disinfection wipedowns can be done?
-
Are good quality disinfection and cleaning products being used?
-
Does the unit have an air purification device?
-
Are frequently touched surfaces including tv and air conditioner remote controls, light switches and door handles disinfected thoroughly?
-
-
-
What are your receiving and send-off protocols?
It is important to follow COVID-19 guidelines when your host receives you and when you depart from your Airbnb. Wearing a mask and social distancing are standard practices now but it is important to ask whether your host takes any additional precautions like sanitising your unit's keys on handover.
-
What other precautions do we need to take?
If you haven't visited the Airbnb you've booked before remember to ask your host about special precautions for the area. If you are renting in an apartment block, inquire about the block's COVID protocols and rules or if you are renting in a gated community there might be specific protocols for the clubhouse.
We hope that this advice helps you have a safe and restful festive season. To help ensure your premises as an Air BnB host is up to to scratch, make sure to get all of your hygiene consumables in place.
